Premium Squares are Achievemnts for Beginners in Words with Friends

We all want to win Words with Friends, but did you know that there are more achievements in Words with Friends than there are bonus fields? We had a look at all the points you can get, not just in one game but in several games. Those bonuses haven’t changed over the last few years, only the look and feel of the app has changed. So let’s have a closer look.

1.      Bonuses you achieve with letters

First, this is essential, since it is a word game no letters, no points, no bonuses. But how can I double or triple my word count? Or earn even more points on it? Maybe you have noticed that sometimes a number pops up that doesn’t match the summed up count of your letters. Maybe you’ve hit a “Twice Is Nice” without having noticed it?

  • Triple Double: 1 point – Play a word across 3 Double Letter tiles.
  • Triple Triple: 10 points – Play a word across 2 Triple Letter tiles and 1 Triple Word tile.
  • Twice Is Nice: 15 points – Play a word across 2 Double Word tiles.
  • Triple Threat: 25 points – Play a word across a Triple Word tile.
  • Double Threat: 25 points – Play a word across a Double Word tile.
  • Attack of the Tiles: 25 points – Play a word across a Triple Letter tile.
  • Bingo: 25 points – Play a word using all seven tiles.

As you can see, even if you don’t have the best word or the best combination of letters, by hitting more than one bonus square you receive extra points!

2.      Bonuses you achieve with words

Putting letters on the board is not the end. If you use all seven tiles to play a word, you receive your 25 points extra. And if your word was worth 70 points (due to high score letters and/or premium squares) you will again receive 25 extra points!

The strategy in Words with Friends doesn’t end with letters. To make more of your words and to gain the achievements in Words with Friends you have to place your words strategically.
